![]() ![]() ![]() will be a plain vanilla version - without all the fancy bells and whistles needed for modern, non-trivial Python programs. I wrestled with this once, and eventually gave up on building a usable self-compile of Python. It turns out that in order to get all the bells and whistles in your Python build, you need to have a few zillion "-dev" type packages (themselves not related to Python in any way) installed on your system, and it is far from clear what all they are (and sometimes, getting them all is impossible). I.e., what you get may be suitable for writing and executing the Python version of "hello world", but little else. Python is one of those programs (and there are several others) that have the attribute that although they do build from source reliably "out of the box" with no backtalk or guff, the version that you get from this effort will be a plain vanilla version - without all the fancy bells and whistles needed for modern, non-trivial Python programs. That said, I want to throw in a word of caution about self-building Python. ![]() ObNitPick: The above construct (if true) can't possibly be good coding practice.
